"Literacy is the bridge from misery to hope" from Kofi Annan is the quote I liked.
This is a fantastic site! I was very interested in listening to how you can use it to help create more effective readers. I am looking forward to getting my kids involved. Thanks for your session it was great.
Was at the conference last week. This is the first time I've entered a comment on a blog! I have sent the address for this site to my Team Solutions colleagues so that they can let schools know that it's here. Such a great conference! Looking forward to Queenstown next year.
Heather.
Thanks very much for a practical and informative workshop. It is always great to cross our own bridges as teachers, and in this case, move from the unknown to the known in blogging. Thank you!!!!
Great to read everyone's comments. You're doing well, taking the plunge and commenting on a blog!
I had a wonderful time at the conference with such a committed group of "volunteers in the fight against illiteracy" (a quote from one of the speakers - can't remember who!).
One of my favourite quotes from the session was from Jody Hayes, who talked about the benefits of blogging with her class. She said - "a blog is not about writing, its about being part of the conversation." Thanks, commenters for being part of our Create Readers Conversation.
Some more great words, quoted by Linda Gambrell, at her closing plenury: "If you're going to binge, literature is definitely the way to do it." (Oprah Winfrey)
Well, I can't recall any quotes off hand and I also don't have my notes on hand, but I have now done my blogging homework, so snaps for me and you! :-) Bec
