New Zealand Post Book Awards for Children and Young Adults


We've argued and argued about who would win this year. But now the judges have put us all out of our misery!



And the winners are:

Picture Book category:

Roadworks by Sally Sutton, illustrations by Brian Lovelock

Junior Fiction category:

Old Drumble by Jack Lasenby

Non-fiction category

Back & Beyond: New Zealand Painting for the Young and Curious by Gregory O'Brien

Children's Choice award:

The Were Nana by Melinda Szymanik with illustrations by Sarah Nelisiwe Anderson

Honour Award for the best first book:

Violence 101 by Denis Wright

And the winner of the Senior Fiction category and New Zealand Post Book of the Year is:

Kate De Goldi's 10pm Question

Hi all - well yes, indeed, that is my understanding about "Piggity Wiggity "too. I didn't include it because nothing about it has been posted on the booksellers website http://www.booksellers.co.nz/nzpb_main.htm

Hi guys.
Our school librarian read this book to our ENG class, and i think that everyone enjoyed this book!
This book is imaginative and funny.
I would realy love to read more boks from this auther.

I Like "Duck's Stuck!!!!!" The Were Nana is ok but its very predictable........ Nana Lupin turns out to be good and humiliates Simon. Typical Ending. Oh well.
